CRECCOM is conducting a Participatory Gender Audit (PGA) Training at CRECCOM's Office in Zomba. The training is being facilitated by Mr Joseph Kazima, a gender specialist and Assistant Director of Gender Affairs in the Ministry of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare as well as CRECCOM's Vice board chairperson. This is a follow-on event on a gender analysis training that took place earlier in the year.

The aim of the PGA Training is to help build the capacity of the organization to examine its practice in relation to fulfilling gender equality and integration/mainstreaming in its programming.

Gender equality and women empowerment is one of the 7 thematic areas actively addressed by CRECCOM in its development initiatives. By eliminating harmful socio-cultural practices, reducing gender-based violence, improving female access to essential services including livelihoods diversification, and by educating men and women, boys and girls about HIV/AIDS and sexual and reproductive health rights, the organization has and continues to make women and men, boys and girls, equal participants and owners of impactful and sustainable development, turning their families and communities into resilient structures.

Joseph Kazima is the He for She Campaign Champion as conferred upon him by Her Excellency, Madam Phumzile Mlambo Ngcuka, Executive Director of UN Women on the margins of the 62nd Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW62) held on 22nd March 2018 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York in the USA.

During this training, Joseph Kazima is grooming the organization's staff on the different tools used when conducting PGA, including the skills required for individuals facilitating PGA processes. A total of 13 staff members, including the organization's directors, technical/professional staff, 6 of whom are females are benefiting from this training.
