To increase awareness of Adolescent Girls and Young women in HIV and AIDS, CRECCOM's AGYW project is conducting school healthy days in different schools in Konzere zone in Chikwawa District.

On Friday, 25th October 2019, the activity was conducted at Konzere Primary School. It was at this school that 6 clubs namely: Rabu, Konzere and Mwanawanjovu in school clubs and out of school clubs met with Dolo Health Centre Youth Friendly Team

Each Club has 50 members but during this activity, 287 out of 300 members were present. The members discussed issues concerning Family Planning, Gender Based Violence, HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections. They also discussed how they can access services from the hospital where they had conducted the meeting, to help mitigate the issues.

Through these clubs, the out- of school clubs play a significant role in returning girls to school. Girl drop outs, who are in the out-of school clubs feel motivated to go back to school. Additionally, the out-of school girls are referred to other equally helpful projects to address their everyday challenges.

The meeting resulted in the sensitization of girls on the need to return to and remain in school and resist harmful socio-cultural practices that make them prone to HIV/AIDS. Additionally, as per the main agenda, , the activity resulted in Adolescent Girls and Young Women being made aware of HIV /AIDS, GBV and family planning.

Adolecent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) is funded by Action Aid
