Creative Center for Community Mobilization (CRECCOM), along with The Paramount Chief Kawinga Visited Sale Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Chiwalo in Machinga district to learn how communities in T/A Chiwalo are now empowered to stop child marriages in the Yao region through the Ending Child Marriages (ECM) project.

The event involved the presence of different stakeholders that the project reached out to namely Community Leaders, Mother groups, Village Forum, and girls that were returned to school. Different stakeholders' representatives presented on how they have contributed towards the project's goal which is to contribute towards transforming the lives of girls by improving their access, retention, and achievement in upper primary and secondary schools.

The two girls, Charity Kandewu and Ambumulire Ajasi, also gave their testimonies on how they were returned back to school from early marriage through the intervention of Mother Groups.

During the event, Paramount Chief Kawinga advised all parties that were present to work hand in hand and respect each other's duties toward education in order to support girls' education. "We all have a unique role to play in ending child marriages and in promoting girls' education. I call upon each one of us to respect the roles of our counterparts whilst we are doing our part," said Paramount Kawinga.

The Executive Director for CRECCOM, Ms Madalo Samati, commended the good work that the people are doing in the project.
