Assessing Learners Activity in Malawi (YESA)

SUMMARY

CRECCOM in partnership with Abt Associates is implanting a 4 year project called YESA with funding from USAID. The project which runs from 11 February 2019 - 30 November 2022 is working with the government to refine the early grade reading assessment system in Malawi and build the capacity of communities, teachers, and the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MoEST) to use this system to improve student performance.

The project's goal is to institutionalize a multi-level assessment system and capacity-building program that will train teachers, administrators, and policy makers how to use regular reading assessment data to update instruction, support teachers, inform policy and engender a culture of reading throughout Malawi.

In YESA project, CRECCOM is responsible for the community mobilization and engagement work in five education divisions in Malawi: South East Education Division (SEED), Shire Highlands Education Division (SHED), Central West Education Division (CWED), Central East Education Division (CEED), and North Education Division (NED).
